Deep charcoal grey cactus silk rug with some bleaching and bobbling to the centre. Late 20th century.

Moroccan rug hand woven using cactus silk and embroidered with traditional tribal symbols.

Cactus silk is a plant-derived silk harvested from Saharan aloe vera cacti in northern Morocco and more often in Spain, called Sabra. After the silk fibres are extracted they are washed, dyed, dried and then hand-spun.
