Indonesian ikat samba. Ikat is a dyeing technique from South East Asia used to pattern textiles that use resist dying on the yarns prior to dyeing and weaving the fabric.

Traditional Indonesian motifs such as crocodiles, warriors, peacocks and other forms of Forna and everyday life and spiritual beings were regularly used for traditional ceremonial pieces. However with Dutch colonisation, motifs showing the Dutch royal family, heraldry and horses were produced for the tourist market. The royal family were often depicted in an unflattering nature as a jibe to their then rulers.
