Furoshiki is a traditional Japanese way of wrapping gifts in a square piece of fabric, that can be reused. Used since the Nero period. This size piece could have been used to wrap bedding and larger home items for transport.

Running stitch on opposite corners and plenty of repairs. Many holes and marks due to age and wear.
