Contemporary Bold black and red sofreh, wool and some synthetic materials.
Iranian sofreh rug. Sofreh were originally made by the nomadic tribes of Iran. Sofreh translated from arabic meaning ‘dining table’ is a traditional hand woven wool rug which was often spread on the ground on which to place food and eat amongst family members. They were also often used in the preparation of baking bread and wrapped in the sofreh after baking. The geometric design was often personal and passed down from mother to daughter.
