Tibetan headdresses

These are a bit of a mystery to me. Featuring Hmong- like iconography, embellished with very early 20th century Chinese coinage and reminiscent of Tibetan headdresses. These were traditionally worn over women’s long plaits, hanging down over their backs. Yellow resin beads fastened with turquoise, cowrie shells and a central conch shell. The coins attached show they were from early 20th century.

Unfortunately there is a large amount of damage due to age and moth, they have been treated accordingly. Please get in touch if you have any more questions.
